CLASS DESCRIPTION

TAGG is for teens, age 13-19, interested in developing their acting and theatre skills on a pre-professional level. Each week the students are introduced to different approaches to acting and theatre. The skills learned give the students an arsenal with which they can confidently tackle most acting roles, public speaking situations and communication in general. This class is for young adults who are interested in honing their interpersonal skills, boosting their confidence level and exploring a new social circle. Each actor will be called upon to trust each other, work with each other and push each other towards greatness. TAGG members are expected to be 100% present both in class and on stage. Not just there but there, prepared and focused on the challenge at hand.

Teen Actors at the Gorilla In addition to class work, students will have monologues and scene work for the fall session and collaborate on a full production of a short play for the spring session. These projects will require a commitment to the program beyond attending class. Close to the end of each session, rehearsals outside of class will be scheduled around the actors’ availability. Each week, homework is expected. (But it's theatre, so it's fun homework, right?)

Ami Sallee instructs. Sallee is a 4-time Creative Loafing "Best of the Bay" winner for best actress and Best Director and scariest stage production. A Resident Artist for The Gorilla Theatre and active member of the arts community in Tampa, she can be seen on stages or in the director's chair all around the bay. She is currently the Interim Theater Department Chair at the Patel Conservatory, Adjunct faculty at The University of Tampa and Managing Director for All Out Rep. Formerly, Sallee was Managing Director for Jobsite Theater, Operations and Producing Manager for The Patel Conservatory, arts activist for the Artist and Writers' Group, faculty for the Eleanor Dempsey PAC, you can read more at her website or through her blog at The Daily Loaf.

TAGG's curriculum allows the students' work to reflect the mainstage season at The Gorilla. A special TAGG ticket discount applies to students and their families.
